Fiddleheads, 1999 ![]() This piece is carved from a beautiful green and red Brazilian granite and is mounted on a circular pedestal which serves as a bench, as well as a base. The cluster of different sized fiddleheads are both leaning on and supported by each other. I think of them as representing a family. The chiseled texture of the spiral forms contrasts with the polished surfaces of most of the sculpture. This piece was given as a gift to the library in honor of Herb and Ada Brown who used to frequent the library. An inscription on the edge of the seat quotes Ralph Waldo Emerson: "If we can touch the imagination, we serve..." Medium: Granite. Location: Norwich, Vermont Public Library This piece is accesible to the public. Click here for directions |
